BADHOVEN "Behind The Masquerade" 2001 (ATS Records)
Badhoven were former know as Black Rose and released two albums. This new album with Badhoven is very good. The sound can be compared with a little heavier Urban Tale and the german AORsters Sacred Season. The production is also very good and so is the arrangements. My favorite tracks are " Wasted Time" a great AOR-song with nice hooklines in the chorus and good background vocals. "Girl Like You" is a very good up-tempo song with brilliant 80´s Survivor kind of keyboards. "Behind The Masquerade" has superb arrangements and it´s a great journey throughout the whole song. I must again point out the keyboards that are brilliant on this song. The ballad "Spirit Of The Lake" is awesome with powerful background vocals. There are couple of track like "Dying For That Miracle", "Rockin´ Old Radio" and "All Or Nothing" that are weak and brings down the grade a little bit. Despite from these songs this is a very good album that should suite fans of Urban Tale and AORsters that wants great melodies and keyboards.
